Dental Assisting

We require a student to have "shadowing" hours.  Shadowing is defined as "observation" hours with a dental assistant and dentist during the normal work day.

The student will spend 6 hours shadowing in a dental office prior to the application being approved and 20 hours shadowing during and or after the twelve week program.  The shadowing may be completed in one week or may be spread over a two or three week period, but must be completed within 45 days after the completion of the 12-week portion. The school staff will help with the placement of the students in the shadowing program, however it is the responsibility of the student to find a dental office they feel they will receive the best learning experience.

Administrative

The student will spend 20 hours in a dental office. This opportunity is offered to the student for practical application of all skills learned while in school. Although the student receives no remuneration, this experience provides actual work experience prior to graduation. The internship may be completed in one week or may be spread over a two or three week period, but must be completed within 45 days after the completion of the 9-week portion. The school staff will help with the placement of the students in the intern program, however it is the responsibility of the student to find a dental office they feel they will receive the best learning experience.
